Description
The Hulland headstone, located approximately 7 metres south-west of the south-west corner of the south aisle of the Church of St James, is a twin headstone dating from the mid-19th century. It was crafted by R Follard of Kings Nympton and is made of slate. The headstone features a straight top and twin incised semi-circular headed arches. It commemorates Mary Hulland, who died in 1849, and William Hulland, who died in 1855, along with their son. The inscription includes a verse at the base that reads: "This stone is rais'd to tell the spot Within the Churchyard wide Where Mary Hulland and William Hulland Lie mouldering side by side...etc."
