Description
Little Kidland is a farmhouse with an attached barn, likely dating from the 18th century, although earlier fabric may be present. The farmhouse is constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, with a thatched roof that has a half-hipped section at the right end and is hipped at the left end, extending continuously over the barn and dwelling. An axial brick chimney stack is present. The plan is of a small, two-room cottage with direct entry into a large, heated room to the right and a smaller, unheated room to the left, where a staircase is positioned against the front wall. A barn is attached to the left end. The exterior is two storeys high with a two-window front. The windows are late 19th century, with two-light casements featuring various panes. A small porch with a plank door extends from the right end. The barn has double plank doors. A brief inspection of the interior suggested it had remained largely unchanged in the 20th century; no exposed ceiling beams were visible, and a 19th-century chimneypiece was noted. The roof was not inspected.
