Description

Lincombe Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations dating to the mid-19th century and possible earlier origins. It is constructed of cob and slatestone rubble with rendered elevations, and has a gabled roof covered in artificial slate. An attached outbuilding is of slatestone rubble with brick quoins and a corrugated-iron roof. The farmhouse has a 3-unit plan, incorporating a 17th-century front outshut and a central rear outshut. Further outshut elements are of the 17th and 19th centuries, with a 19th-century rear wing extending to the right. The main facade is single-storey with an attic, displaying a four-window arrangement. A mid-19th century half-glazed four-panelled door is situated to the right, flanked by 8/8-pane sash windows on the ground floor, and first-floor gabled half-dormers with matching sash windows above. An outshut to the left features a 17th-century four-light wood-mullioned window with later casements, while a smaller window alongside has a 17th-century two-light ovolo-moulded wood-mullioned window, also with later casements. A similar dormer is present above. The interior, noted during a 1973 inspection, retains original features including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, a square balustrade and square newel stair, 17th-century panelled shutters to the four-light window, a fragment of moulded plaster cornice on the first floor, and plank doors with H hinges.
