Description
Old Maids Cottage is a house that likely dates from the mid 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is rendered and is thought to be made of cob, though it may also include some slate rubble. It has a thatched roof and features a two-unit plan with a central cross passage and internal walls made of stone or cob. The cottage has one-and-a-half storeys and displays scattered fenestration, including three two-light half-dormers and two two-light windows on the ground floor, along with another window at eaves level. The windows have diamond leading. There is a rustic tiled porch and cusped bargeboarding. A 20th-century kitchen has been added to the rear. The interior has not been inspected, but a description from 1973 mentions stop-chamfered ceiling beams and hewn roof trusses.
