Description

No 42 on South Street in South Molton is a building likely constructed in 1880, as indicated by the ironwork on the garden gate, which features the date and the initials 'J C'. The building is two storeys high and has a rendered exterior with a slate roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles.

On the east side, there are two sash windows without glazing bars, each protected by wide cast iron flower guards. The south elevation includes one sash window and a three-light bay window that extends through both floors. The gable displays fretted bargeboards featuring an unusual vine motif, which is also seen on No 32 South Street.
