Description
Hillhead Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of painted stone rubble with some cob and features a thatched roof with brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has a two-room layout with a nearly central through-passage, and each room is divided axially to create service rooms at the rear. There is a two-storey outbuilding attached to the lower right end of the farmhouse. The exterior is two storeys high and has a three-window range, primarily featuring early 19th century two and three-light casements, with two of the upper storey windows still having rectangular leaded panes. There are also 20th-century thatched rustic timber porches on the courtyard and garden fronts. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted that the roof has been heightened, possibly in the 19th century.
