Description

Head Bridge is a road bridge that spans the River Mole and was built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from dressed stone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a coped concrete parapet. The bridge has three spans, each with an elliptical arch made of dressed stone voussoirs. Above the arches, there are shallow buttresses that rise above stepped, pointed cutwaters. The pilaster buttresses extend into the parapet, which includes a string course at approximately road level.
