Description
Ford Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse built of painted rendered stone rubble. It features an original slate roof with gable end brick stacks, deep eaves, and lion's head guttering. The building has a symmetrical double depth plan that includes two principal front rooms, a central entrance and staircase, and service rooms at the back.
The exterior is two storeys high with a three-window range and retains its original fenestration. There are tripartite sashes flanking a 12-paned sash window. The ground floor has canted bay windows with 12-paned sashes and 4-paned sidelight sashes beside the central doorway, which is adorned with a bracketed moulded entablature and incised decoration on the pilasters. The door itself is a four-panelled design, with the upper two panels being glazed.
Inside, the farmhouse features 19th-century joinery, an intact staircase, panelled doors, and chimneypieces. Ford Farmhouse is a good example of a modest and remarkably unspoilt mid-19th century farmhouse.
