Description

Townliving Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century or earlier, but it was largely rebuilt after a fire in the 1930s, according to the owner. The structure is made of whitewashed rendered cob on stone rubble footings and features a slate roof that is gabled at both ends, with end stacks that have brick shafts.

The interior layout, which was not inspected during the survey in 1987, appears to be single depth and three rooms wide, with heated rooms on the left and right. The front door is located to the right of the center and opens into a passage that runs parallel to the front wall. A straight staircase rises opposite the front door, and there are service rooms at the rear in the center of the house. Although the house suffered significant fire damage, it is reported that some exposed carpentry remains on the ground floor.

The exterior consists of two storeys and has an asymmetrical front with four windows. There is a gabled porch to the right of center that includes porch seats and a plank front door. The windows are regularly spaced and are likely early 20th-century timber casements with one, two, and three lights featuring small panes. The interior, which was not inspected during the survey, is said to have exposed crossbeams, according to the owner. The farmhouse is externally attractive and is located adjacent to the church.
