Description
The Burgess gravestone, located approximately 9 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Hieritha, is a Grade II listed twin headstone dating from 1823. It was created by Manning and is made of slate. The gravestone features a straight-headed design with twin incised arches. An inscription around the head reads, "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life." On the right side, it commemorates John Burgess, who died in 1859, while the left side honors his wife, who passed away in 1823, along with a note about their infant child being buried at the same time. There is also a verse below the main inscriptions.
