Description

The Hammond headstone, dating from 1797, is located approximately 20 metres west of the west tower of the Church of St James in Kings Nympton. This headstone is made of slate and features a shaped head. It is adorned with twin angel busts that have interlocking inner wings and a star above them, along with a triple heart motif below. The inscription commemorates Elizabeth Hammond, who died in 1797.
