Description
The Boat House is a mid-19th century boathouse located at Watermouth Cove in Berrynarbor. It is constructed from unrendered stone rubble with painted brick dressings and features a concrete tiled roof adorned with decorative carved gable-end bargeboards. The boxed eaves are supported by shaped timber brackets. At the rear right-hand corner, there is a diagonally set brick stack with oversailing courses and four bands of zig-zag coursing. The building is rectangular in shape and is oriented gable end towards the seafront, with a wide entrance at the front gable end.
This single-storey boathouse includes a sail loft above. The front gable end has a small window with a cambered arch above a segmental pointed arched entrance that features double sliding plank doors. There are two cambered arched window openings on each side, each with 8-paned top-hung casements. At the rear gable end, there are double plank doors leading to the sail loft. Inside, the boathouse retains its parquet flooring, winding gear, and a brick fireplace surround.
