Description
The barn and linhay, located approximately 20 metres south-west of Head Barton, likely date from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The barn is constructed of stone rubble, with some rendered cob on the upper parts, while the linhay features timber boarding with stone rubble and cob side and rear walls. Both structures have corrugated asbestos roofs with gable ends.
The barn has a rectangular and symmetrical plan, featuring single opposing cart entrances with double plank doors and a projecting porch at the front. Inside, the timber threshing floor remains intact. The linhay extends to the right and consists of six bays supported by timber uprights, with a boarded front that includes cover strips. There are an additional four bays to the right, creating a double-sided linhay with circular stone and cob piers at the front and back. The hay lofts are also intact, and there is a gable-ended horse engine-house located at the rear left side of the barn.
