Description

A terrace of four almshouses, now divided into flats, was rebuilt in 1833. The buildings are constructed of snecked local red stone, with brick chimney stacks, slate roofs, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Originally, each cottage was double-depth, one room wide, with an axial stack, arranged as a mirror image of its neighbour. The two-storey buildings have a single-bay front with Tudor-arched doorways. The doors are plank, with cover strips and studs, and the windows are casements with glazing bars and hoodmoulds. Two stone tablets are set into the facade: one on the left reads "BLAGDONS CHARITY DESTROYED BY FIRE AND REBUILT ANNO DOMINI 1833" and the other names the trustees. The interior was not inspected during listing, but some original fittings may have been retained.
