Description

The Coach House is a house, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of brick, with the front face stuccoed, and has a slate roof with gabled ends and a brick chimney stack. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window front. A prominent, pilastered doorcase, characteristic of the 18th century, is located on the right-hand side of the ground floor, leading to a six-panel door. Modern timber sash windows, with one pane of glass per sash, fill the window openings; these are probably replacements within original stone surrounds. A tripartite window is present on the ground floor to the left, with a single-light modern window alongside. The first floor features two sash windows, and a round window is positioned above the front door. The interior of the building has not been inspected, but may contain features of interest. The Coach House is situated adjacent to, and probably historically connected with, a notable early 18th-century house at number 61 Bampton Street.
