Description

Three dwellings, located on the east side of Fore Street in Silverton, were likely built in the late 17th or early 18th century. The walls are primarily cob, sitting on a stone plinth, with some areas patched with brick and roughcast rendering. The roofs are thatched and gabled at the ends. The buildings have a double-depth plan with rear extensions. They are two storeys high.

The front elevation features two end and one axial brick chimney shaft. There is a five-window arrangement; the windows are mostly 2-light casements with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors. A small, 19th-century 3-light shop window with pilasters, a cornice, and glazing bars is at ground floor level. A side entrance serves number 38, which also extends as a rear wing. Internally, number 38 has no ancient features visible.
