Description
The cottage immediately west of Cove Bridge is likely an early 19th-century building, possibly originally serving as a bridge toll-house. It features a colourwashed and rendered exterior with a thatched roof that is hipped at the ends and has a central stack with a brick shaft. The plan is designed in a T shape, consisting of a two-room main block and a projecting five-sided bay at the center of the front.
The cottage is a single storey with an attic and has a symmetrical four-window front, with the central bay having a separate roof. There is a central thatched porch supported by posts, which are enclosed with planks. The windows are two-light 19th-century casements, with eight panes per light in the canted bays of the front projection and on either side of the main block. Additionally, there is a narrow attic dormer with a segmental head in the center and a small attic window on the left side.
The cottage overlooks Cove Bridge, contributing to the group value of the area.
