Description
Chain Bridge Lodge is a lodge that was formerly associated with Stuckeridge House in Oakford Parish. The building is whitewashed and rendered, likely made of stone, and features a thatched roof, with a slated lean-to at the right end and a central rendered stack. It has an irregular plan, with a five-sided front block that includes a verandah around the front, and a gabled rear block that is slightly offset to the right, also with a lean-to on the right side.
The lodge is single-storey with an attic, and the hipped roof of the front block extends down to form a thatched verandah supported by timber posts. The front features a pointed arched doorway located in the center bay, which has a two-panel front door, flanked by small one-light pointed windows. Each of the left and right bays has a pointed arched two-light window with Y tracery and ornamental glazing bars. There is a two-leaf arched glazed door leading into the front block from the garden on the left side, and the rear block has a separate entrance on the same side, featuring a door with an arched fanlight and an arched window. The attic dormers in the thatched roof have windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features. The lodge has group value with the Chain Bridge.
