Description

This milestone, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, is made of granite and is located in Lapford. It is an upright block that is half buried, standing approximately 0.5 meters high. The milestone has a flat top and a triangular shape, with the front faces angled forward. The left side is inscribed with "TO EXON" and the right side with "TO BARUM" in Roman serif capitals. The mileage markings are now buried, but they presumably indicate 18 miles to the left and 22 miles to the right.
