Description

Woodland Cottage is a cottage and adjoining store, likely dating from the 18th century with the store added in the 19th century. The cottage is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with cob stacks topped with 19th and 20th century brickwork, and has a thatched roof. It originally had a 2-room plan and faces away from the road. There are end stacks. A small store or former byre was added to the left (north-west) end. The cottage is two storeys high, with an irregular three-window front featuring late 19th and 20th century casement windows with glazing bars. A 20th century glazed replacement front door is located to the right of centre, with a 20th century gabled porch. A door to the store is located at the left end, above which is a window replacing a former hayloft loading hatch. The roof is hipped to the right and half-hipped to the left. The interior retains plain carpentry details including finished waney crossbeams and stone rubble fireplaces with plain oak lintels. The roof has not been inspected.
