Description

Fuschia Cottages is a cottage dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, featuring rubble stacks with chimney shafts from the 19th and 20th centuries, and has a thatched roof. The cottage is a three-room house facing east, with an entrance lobby and stairs at the left (south) end. The large central room has a projecting front lateral stack that includes an oven projection, while the right (north) end has a crosswing that projects slightly forward and contains two rooms with an outer lateral stack. The building is two storeys high and has an irregular front with three windows, featuring late 19th and 20th century casements with glazing bars. The window in the front of the crosswing blocks a former doorway. At the left end, there is a door with a half-buried late 16th to early 17th century doorframe that has a flat-arched head. The crosswing has a hipped roof. Access to the interior was not possible at the time of the survey.
