Description
Nymet Bridge is a road bridge built around 1850 that spans both a railway and the River Yeo. It is constructed from snecked local mudstone, featuring rock-faced ashlar quoins, voussoirs, a drip course, and coping, with a small amount of 20th-century brick repairs. The bridge has four tall spans supported by plain rectangular piers with simple imposts and segmental-arched vaults. The pier located in the river is set on a slightly wider starling with pointed cutwaters at either end. At both ends of the bridge, the abutments project slightly and are very gently battered as they rise past the plain drip course at road level, serving as terminals for the stone parapet. The parapet has flat coping with narrow chamfered edges. The road has a slight ramp over the river but remains flat over the railway, which is reflected in the design of the drip course and parapet.
