Description

Lower Bradley Farmhouse is a building of group value, dating from 1609 with a front range added in 1735. The rear wing represents the remains of an earlier house, while the front range is attributed to the date of its occupier. The walls are rendered cob, and the roof is thatched with water reed. Brick end stacks are present, with the right-hand stack projecting externally. The building is laid out in an L-shape, with the older rear wing at right angles to the right-hand side. The front range has a two-room plan, with a central entrance and stair hall.

The exterior is two storeys high and symmetrical, featuring a three-window front. The windows are early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sashes. The central doorway has an 18th-century six-panel door with fielded panels. A 19th-century gable-fronted porch covers the entrance, its wooden walls constructed of muntins and planks, similar to those used for internal partitions.

The interior was not inspected but is likely to be largely unaltered, reflecting the exterior appearance.
