Description
Beech House is a detached house, converted into two dwellings, dating from the early 19th century. The building is finished in stucco and features a hipped slate roof with deeply overhanging eaves. It has a single depth plan, with the main rooms located on either side of a central entrance. There are three storeys, and an internal right-hand stack with a brick shaft is presumably the last remaining of two end stacks.
The front exterior is symmetrical with a three-window range. On the first and second floors, there are 12-pane hornless sash windows that flank a central 12-pane hornless sash window. The ground floor features a central porch adorned with a pediment, modillions, a cornice, and Doric columns, with a late 20th-century glazed door. There are also 20-pane hornless sash windows on either side of the porch. The front of the house faces south, while the roadside elevation is quite plain, with casement windows and PVC replica sashes on the first floor. There are no windows on either side of the building. Beech House has a striking profile, being very tall and narrow in relation to its area. The interior has not been inspected.
