Description
This barn, located approximately 50 meters south-west of Dowrich House, dates back to the 16th century and was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed from plastered cob and rubble, with some brick patching, and features a slate roof. The barn has been significantly altered and has a gable end facing north-east. The front is irregular with four windows.
On the right end, there is a 16th-century oak shoulder-headed door, flanked by arch-headed windows, with another arch-headed window above. The left window has a small loading bay above it, while the center features a larger loading bay and another ground floor door. At the left end, there are large 20th-century garage doors with an arch-headed window above. The right end has a glazed window, while the others are shuttered.
Internal access is limited, but it is possible that much of the original 16th-century structure remains. The right end has crossbeams, and the left end features a side-pegged jointed cruck roof. The 16th-century barn has been superficially improved in the early 19th century.
