Description

This is a roadside milestone located on Sampford Peverell Turnpike, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is made of volcanic ashlar and stands approximately 1.2 metres high with an upright round-headed shape. The front features an Ordnance Survey bench mark cut into the head. Below this, the inscription is in plain upper and lower case lettering, reading: "Tiverton 3, Wellington IX."
