Description
Hayne Barton is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, built on the site of an earlier house. It features a plastered exterior, with the back wall made of cob and the materials of the other walls unknown. The building has brick stacks and slate roofs, consisting of two parallel blocks under separate low-pitch roofs that are hipped at each end. The main rooms are located in the front blocks, with a narrow ancillary block behind. It is two storeys high, with the main block containing three rooms and a stair, plus four chambers above and stacks at the rear. The front door, located to the left of centre, is sheltered by a glazed Tuscan porch and is part of a four-window front with 16-pane sash windows. There is a tripartite sash window in the central dining room, mid to late 19th century French windows on the left side, and a reused 17th-century door leading to the kitchen on the right side, which features a large brick fireplace.
