Description

The Forge is a pair of adjoining cottages that were formerly a smithy and a cottage, likely built in the late 18th century and modernised around 1970. The structure features plastered cob walls resting on rubble footings, with a mix of brick, stone, and cob stacks. It has a thatched roof and stands two stories high, one room deep, with stacks located at the rear. The cottages are divided by a cob wall and present a roughly symmetrical front with a total of four windows. The windows are modern casements from the 20th century, and there are thatch eyebrows over the first-floor windows. The front doors, also from the 20th century, are accompanied by thatched hoods. The interior has been thoroughly modernised. The building is included for its group value.
