Description

New Shuttern Bridge is a road bridge located over a stream in Newton St Cyres, dating from the early 19th century, with some repairs made in the 20th century. The bridge is constructed from veined volcanic trap and rubbed brick, featuring granite coping. It has vertical stone abutments and a single segmental arch made of brick. There is a drip course at road level, along with brick parapets that also have granite coping. The parapet is complete on the south-west side, where it includes terminal square-cornered piers that protrude only on the outside. This bridge is included for its group value.
