Description
Nos. 51, 52, and 53 are a row of three cottages located in Newton St Cyres, likely built in the 18th century and modernized around 1975. They feature cob walls with stone footings and have exposed brick stacks above a thatched roof. The building is long and two stories high, with a depth of one room. Each cottage has a different two-room layout. Notably, No. 53 has a large, projecting cob stack at the rear, while there are gable stacks and an axial stack between Nos. 51 and 52. The roof is hipped at both ends. The cottages have balanced fenestration with 20th-century iron and wooden casements, and the central six windows are set higher. The irregularity of the cottages indicates they may have been built at different times or were the result of the 18th-century subdivision of a larger structure. They are included for their group value.
