Description
This building is an office located approximately 5 metres south of Chaffcombe Farmhouse. It is possibly the original bailiff's office, dating from the early 17th century and remodelled in the 20th century. The structure is made of plastered cob on rubble footings and has a corrugated iron roof. It features a one-room plan and faces north towards Chaffcombe Farmhouse. The building is two storeys tall.
The front of the office includes an early 17th-century oak door frame with an ovolo moulded surround, which contains a 20th-century plank door on the right side. On the left side, there is an external flight of stone steps leading to a blocked doorway. The left (east) and rear walls have 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. Inside, the ground floor has a soffit chamfered crossbeam with keeled step stops. The roof was rebuilt in the 20th century.
