COLEBROOKE SX 79 NE 5/85 - West Studham Farmhouse including front garden railings

Farmhouse. Circa 1850. Plastered cob on rubble footings; stone rubble stacks with C19 brick chimney shafts; slate roof. Double depth plan house facing east with front and back rooms either side of central through-passage which contains the stairs. End stacks. 2 storeys with attics. Italianate style. Symmetrical 3-window front about central doorway. Original 6- panel door and overlight with glazing bars and margin panes, panelled reveals and small, flat-roofed hind supported on pairs of shaped brackets. 12-pane sash above and outer series of shaped brackets. Roof is half-hipped each end. Blind end walls except for small pane sashes to attics. Rear elevation similar to front but without cornice and door hood. Interior has original stick baluster stair and most original joinery and plaster but chimney pieces have been replaced. Contemporary front garden railings with alternate plain and spear tops.
