Description

No. 9, Union Road is a house, likely built around 1836 when Union Road was constructed. It has been converted into three flats. The exterior is pebbledashed with a slate roof and end stacks featuring brick shafts and old terracotta pots. The house follows a double-depth plan with two rooms per floor. It is three storeys high, with a symmetrical three-bay facade above the ground floor. The deep eaves are original. The original front door, located on the right-hand side, has a doorcase with panelled mouldings, consoles, a lintel, and a deep moulded cornice. To the left of the door is a ground floor window with a 12-pane hornless sash. Above are three similar sashes on the first floor, and three 3/6 sashes on the second floor. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain original features of interest.
