Description

The north and east ranges of farm buildings located to the north-west of Benshayes Farmhouse are likely from the late 18th century, with some 19th-century modifications to the stable range. These adjoining structures include a shippon and barn to the north and stables to the east. They are built from stone rubble with slate roofs, featuring gabled ends and some brick dressings around the ground floor openings of the stables.

The two ranges are positioned at right angles to each other. The north range contains a shippon with a loft above on the left end and a taller building on the right end that includes a threshing loft, which was once powered by a water wheel. The east range is also lofted, with the ground floor now converted into stables.

Both ranges are two storeys high. The left block of the north range has four round-headed doorways and a blocked loft doorway. The taller adjoining block features a large first-floor loft entrance to the left, a square-headed doorway below, and two round-headed doorways on the ground floor to the right. The east range has two ground floor doorways with flat brick arches and five windows, most of which also have flat brick arches, along with four first-floor loft openings.

These farm buildings are situated down the slope from Benshayes Farmhouse and form a cohesive group with the farmhouse and granary.
