Description
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum, located at 1 Queen Street, was built in 1865 by J Hayward of Exeter and is designed in the Venetian Gothic style. The building is constructed from Heavitree stone with paler red stone dressings and features two storeys, a basement, and an attic. The front facade is arranged in a pattern of four, three, three, three, and four bays, with the second and fourth bays set back. A large porch and entrance are highlighted by red granite columns. The building has a pierced parapet and a slate roof, with an iron fence along the frontage. It is part of a group that includes Nos 74 to 91 (consecutive) and the Queen's Hotel.
