Description

No. 227 on High Street is a mid-17th century building that stands five storeys tall with a wide gable. It was thoroughly restored in 1878, and features such as brackets are obviously new. The first and second storeys have continuous windows, with a pedimented oriel window in the centre of the first floor. The third floor has a four-bay arcaded opening with windows behind it. The gable is covered with modern slate-hanging, and there are diamond lattice windows. The building was entirely rebuilt behind its restored facade in 1971, and it has a modern shop front.
