Description

No. 39 on High Street is a building that likely dates from the late 17th century. It is timber-framed and features a gabled front that has been rendered and fitted with later windows. The building stands four storeys high and has three sash windows, which do not have glazing bars except in the attic. It is accented by rusticated quoins and has a modern shop front that it shares with No. 40. The slate roof complements the structure. The frontage facing Martin's Lane is similar but includes sashes with glazing bars. Nos. 59 to 47, which are consecutive, form a group with this building.
