Description

This timber-framed corner building, comprised of numbers 5 and 7 West Street, likely dates to the 15th century and has undergone restoration, resulting in a highly regarded appearance. The lower floor is constructed of stone, featuring a deep overhang supported by brackets. Exposed timbers are present, with some having been renewed. Two 2-light oak windows with cusped heads, one incorporating tracery, are visible facing Stepcote Hill. The building is roofed with modern slate and has bargeboarded gables. Some original internal features remain. Numbers 5 and 7, together with number 24, form a group with all listed buildings in Stepcote Hill, and contribute to the wider group value of listed buildings along West Street and Stepcote Hill.
