Description

Exe Bridge Balustrades and Arch, located on the southeast side of New Bridge Street, were part of the 18th-century bridge constructed between 1770 and 1776 by architects Dixon and later Godwin. Two sections of balustrade still exist on the New Bridge Street embankment, along with a segmental arch that connects Frog Street with Exe Island and supports the roadway. These features are notable as they share a similar design to the original bridge, which was demolished when the current bridge was built in 1904.
