Description

The Former Church of St Edmund is a small five-bay church originally built in the 13th century and extended in the 15th century. It was rebuilt in 1834. The church features two arches from the 13th century, and remnants of the Exe Bridge and the foundations of the piers on which the church stood can be found in the Undercroft. Constructed from Heavitree stone, the church also includes a castellated tower. In 1973, the church was partially demolished, with the roof removed and the walls reduced in height.
