Description

Nos 45 and 46 Southernhay East is an early 19th-century pair of three-storey buildings with two windows each. The lower storey features rusticated stucco, while the upper storeys are constructed of red brick. They have sash windows with glazing bars and six-panel doors with panelled reveals. The entrances are round-headed doorways adorned with moulded architraves and lion's head keystones. A parapet with a band crowns the buildings, although the roof is not visible. These buildings, along with Nos 15 to 28 (consecutive), Nos 30 to 36 (consecutive), Nos 38 to 40 (consecutive), and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, form a cohesive group.
