Description

Hackham Farmhouse, including the barn adjoining at the west, is a farmhouse and barn that originated in the early 17th century or earlier. The building is whitewashed and rendered, with a slated roof on the right and corrugated iron on the left. It features a front lateral stack with a tall brick chimney. The overall plan is a T shape, although specific details were unclear during the survey since the interior was not inspected. The main range, which faces south, appears to have a through passage plan arrangement that is 2 or 3 rooms wide.

The exterior is described as having two storeys and an asymmetrical front with three windows. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch to the right of the center, which has a red tiled roof. The porch features a 17th-century chamfered doorframe and likely an early 19th-century plank inner door with strap hinges. To the left of the porch is the front lateral stack, and further left may be a hall bay. The windows are 20th-century timber casements with two and three lights.

Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted that a plank and muntin screen survives to the left of the passage. The previous listing description mentions that the house is "said to contain old woodwork," suggesting that the interior may be largely unspoiled, and the roof may also be of historical interest, possibly dating back to the medieval period.
