Description
These railings, located along the northern side of the road between Brookfield Road and East Budleigh Road in East Budleigh, were created in the late 19th century. Made of cast iron by the Kerslake Foundry in Exeter, they serve to fence the road from the Budleigh Stream that runs alongside. The railings feature octagonal standards that are shaped with tapering stems and a broad band that supports the circular rails, along with narrower bands above and below, topped with round caps. Some of the standards display the founder's legend. The railings are interrupted by small bridges leading to the house on the opposite side of the stream. These distinctive railings are a charming feature of the village.
