Description
Hook Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 16th century, originally built as a hall house with an inserted floor and chimney. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a concrete tile roof with stone coping at the gable end. The building is positioned at right angles to the road, with a lower roof at the south end. It has two storeys and a three-window range, with two and three light casements that include glazing bars. There is a doorway to the cross-passage located to the right of the centre, and a modern flat roof dormer has been added. The chimney stacks at the ridge and ends have been rebuilt in brick, and there is an oven bulge on the rear wall.
Inside, the farmhouse features jointed cruck trusses that show signs of smoke-blackening. The inserted floor has stopped chamfered ceiling beams, and the inserted chimney includes a chamfered timber beam and jambs that lead to an open fireplace.
