Description

Nos 2 and 3 Gold Street are late 18th century to early 19th century buildings. They consist of two blocks made of colourwashed brick, standing two and three storeys tall with a plinth. The two-storey block may be slightly older and features a steeply pitched slate roof, a brick eaves band with vertical header dentils, and three windows on the first floor. The windows are recessed sashes, with the centre window having three panes and the outer windows having five panes each, all with thin cills and flat brick arches. The ground floor has two sash windows with later glazing bars, positioned on either side of a former entrance, which is now blocked. Above the entrance, there is an arched radial bar fanlight. A brick arch is present over reeded imposts and a keystone featuring a sculptured female head.

The right-hand block, which is three storeys high, also has a steeply pitched gable end slate roof with an eaves band. The ground floor is stuccoed and has two windows on the upper floors, with sash windows of 5 x 4 panes on the second floor and 5 x 8 panes on the first floor, all with thin cills and flat arches. The ground floor features two paired sashes with glazing bars in moulded flush frames, and a panelled entrance door on the left with an arched radial bar fanlight above. There is a sunk panel over the door with a small sculptured head.

Nos 2 to 6 Gold Street form a group.
