Description
The King's Arms, located at 6 Gold Street, is an 18th-century building that stands three stories tall. The ground floor is finished in stucco, while the upper levels are constructed of brick and lime-washed, featuring toothed eaves and a slate roof. The front projection has a wide open pediment adorned with a roundel that includes glazing bars. There are floor bands present, and the ground floor features sash windows with central glazing bars. The first floor of the pedimented projection has three flush frame sash windows with glazing bars and keystones above flat arches. The center window is distinguished by an eared architrave, a dentil pediment, and a pulvinate frieze that is interrupted by a triple keystone. Former coach doors have been replaced by a modern entrance. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 6.
