Description

These are two houses, Rose Cottage and Hollybrook. Rose Cottage, likely dating to the 17th century or earlier, is built of rendered cob with a thatched roof and a brick end stack. Hollybrook to the right was constructed in the early 19th century, originally rendered over brick or rubble with brick end stacks and a slate roof. A later 19th-century extension was added to Hollybrook on the right, using matching materials, and a further addition was built at a right angle to the front, again using similar materials. Both houses are two storeys high. Rose Cottage has a two-window front with 20th-century three-light casement windows and a plank door on the right. The main part of Hollybrook has a symmetrical front with a 20th-century door and three-light casement windows in a three-window arrangement. The later 19th-century extension features plate-glass sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages are prominently sited at the western end of a lane leading to Putt's Farm.
