Description
Lower Combe is a building dating from the early 17th century or earlier. It is constructed of cob and features two storeys, with a colourwashed exterior and a thatched roof. On the west side, there is a large rubble chimney that projects outward, accompanied by an oven projection. The south elevation has two semi-dormer windows and a small leaded casement window on the first floor. The wide central entrance on the north side has a massive door frame and a stop-chamfered lintel. At the rear, there is a hewn wide-boarded door with a massive arched three-piece frame and strap hinges on lugs. Inside, the building showcases massive stop-chamfered beams, a wide fireplace with a stop-chamfered beam, and hewn roof principals and purlins.
