Description
This linhay, located approximately 7 metres west of Christophers in East Budleigh, is a Grade II listed building, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of cob on stone rubble footings and features a thatched roof. The structure has five bays, facing east and backing onto the road. Originally, it was open-fronted with full height posts, classified as Alcock's type B linhay. The crossbeams, which are roughly soffit-chamfered, support the hayloft and are tusk-tenoned to the posts. The posts also support A-frame trusses with lap-jointed collars. Most of the front has been filled with plastered framing, while the right end wall is partly weather-boarded. The roof meets the adjoining property on the left and is half-hipped on the right.
