Description
The Mill is a converted mill with probable origins in the 17th century, largely rebuilt in the late 18th to early 19th century, and converted into a dwelling in 1969 with some alterations. The building is primarily constructed of late 18th to early 19th century English bond brick, with some later brick at the top and a section of limestone that includes ashlar blocks at the first floor level. It has a slate roof and is situated alongside the lane on a rough north-south axis. The entrance is located at the north end. A one-room plan block projects at right angles from the east side, which was presumably the original wheel house. The main block has three storeys, while the wing has two storeys. The exterior features an irregular arrangement of 20th-century casements with glazing bars, some of which are clearly blocking former loading hatches. The roof is gable-ended. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported that no machinery remains.
